To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City of Cape Canaveral a new pictoral postal cancellation will be available on May 16th. With an envelope and a forever postage stamp you can obtain this inexpensive but collectible item.
There are two methods for your convenience.
1) Visit the Cape Canaveral Library on May 16th from 2:30 to 4:pm where a post office official will be on hand to sell you a postage stamp (s) and cancel your envelope. (note: special attractive envelopes will be made available to you free of charge, see image below)
2) The mail in method: just mail a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) inside a larger envelope and mail to Postmaster - Cape Canaveral FL 32920 attn: 50th Anniversary. (*tip)
It's just than simple.
Tips: You have 30 days on and from May 16th to mail in your envelope for cancellation, consider putting in a card in the envelope to offer some rigidity. Collectors prefer envelopes that are 6 3/4 inches on #24 weight paper. The close out date on this event has been set to June 15th to allow for mail ins.
